Bragg, Edward S.    Captain.  6th Wisconsin Infantry, Co E.  Brigadier General, 6th Wisconsin Volunteers.

Bragg was an attorney from  Fond du Lac who enlisted on May 5th, 1861 along with Edwin Brown and assisted by him formed Bragg's rifles which latter became Company E.  Bragg was elected the Captain.  As the growing pains of the young army of the Potomac sifted  through the officers, separating the wheat from the chaff, Bragg found himself promoted quickly to Major of the 6th.  He eventually earned the rank of Brigadier General of Volunteers.  After the war he became a diplomat and served as ambassador to both Cuba and Hong Kong.  He died June 20th, 1912.  He is Buried in Fond du Lac, at the Rienzi cemetery.  Fond du Lac County, WI.
